Yahoo and MSN reality check ?

Hitwise has some analysis on Google traffic, which pretty much mirrors what Alexa stats shows for percentage wise break for traffic at various Google properties. To me this is indeed a great way to say that Google Brand has greater reach than others. Around 80% of google's users come to Google searching for information and thus is the best bet for advertisers.

Of course there was that fleeting thought that some of the newer offerings weren’t really sticking to the wall.
I would disagree. Extending the same logic to Yahoo and MSN would imply none of the applications (other than mail) created by Yahoo or MSN stick despite some many years of effort ?
Alexa stat for Google was pretty accurate, so lets assume a 10% variation the alexa stats for Yahoo and MSN . Here is the break down for MSN

* hotmail.msn.com - 73%
* search.msn.com - 7%
* spaces.msn.com - 7%
* msn.com - 2%
* msnbc.msn.com - 2%
* arabia.msn.com - 1%
* moneycentral.msn.com - 1%
* Other websites - 7%
And for Yahoo

* mail.yahoo.com - 53%
* search.yahoo.com - 9%
* news.yahoo.com - 3%
* bid.yahoo.com - 3%
* login.yahoo.com - 3%
* yahoo.com - 2%
* finance.yahoo.com - 2%
* auctions.yahoo.com - 1%
* groups.yahoo.com - 1%
* sports.yahoo.com - 1%
* knowledge.yahoo.com - 1%
* photos.yahoo.com - 1%
* my.yahoo.com - 1%
* store.yahoo.com - 1%
* games.yahoo.com - 1%
* music.yahoo.com - 1%
* stock.yahoo.com - 1%
* messages.yahoo.com - 1%
* profiles.yahoo.com - 1%
* fantasysports.yahoo.com - 1%
* personals.yahoo.com - 1%
* dictionary.yahoo.com - 1%
* club.yahoo.com - 1%
* wrs.yahoo.com - 1%
* kids.yahoo.com - 1%
* movies.yahoo.com - 1%
* Other websites - 6%

73% if MSN traffic is for hotmail and 53% of Yahoo is for Yahoo mail. That means by the same yardstick none of the services offered by Yahoo or MSN stick. And to think about it, they have been at it for eternity compared to Google !
If I were an advertisers, I would seriously consider giving the No#1 ranking for Yahoo and No#3 ranking for MSN a second thought . Have been using Yahoo Mail and Hotmail for more than five years now and I have "NEVER" clicked on any of the silly ad's that showup either on Yahoor or MSN. They are infact some sort of a blind spot in the screen that never get noticed.
