Wikipedia system architecture and stats

We all know wikipedia is a treasure trove of information and I visit the site on a daily basis for a quick reference about some topic. What I did not notice all these days was that there is a lot of information out their about the system architecture, OS, Hardware configuration, database size, admin stats etc available for curious users. Though I don’t understand a lot of the information that is available here, but it really is very interesting to see the tech stack for wikipedia which has been serving millions of users on a daily basis. So if you ever wondered how a yahoo or an Amazon or a google were delivering content to its users, wikipedia would be a starting point to get some idea about the nature and scale of architecture.
